Job Description

The Senior System Administrator applies comprehensive technical knowledge of data facility requirements, and computer networking to support engineering analyses for extending, operating and maintaining CorpsNET. He/She uses thorough conceptual knowledge of the principles of server and storage systems and experience on specific systems to review site surveys to analyze and write systems engineering plans/reports.  


Systems Administrator duties include: Performs site surveys, architecture design, system evaluation, system analysis and infrastructure assessment. Provides expertise on system/processor architecture, desktop management interface, SNMP, client/server architecture, PKI and certificate services. Plans and coordinates the installation, testing, system security configuration and monitoring, operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of all server hardware and software. Organizes and performs technical analyses, as required. Manages C4 functions in support of tasks essential to USACE NAU information management daily operations, training, and readiness missions. Provides expertise to foster technical excellence in an environment conducive to teamwork among service providers and customers in meeting IM requirements. Develops, modifies and tests system backup and recovery strategies for all systems. Adheres to a strict change management process. Serves at the technical expert and focal point for installation, configuration and testing of hardware and software associated with multiple operating systems and computer platforms. Provides technical assistance and analysis to other IM personnel involved in system design, programming, database design, and adaptation of commercially available software. Knowledge/Skills:  

The System Administrator Sr. must possess in-depth knowledge of a diverse spectrum of Information Technology (IT) hardware/software, to include network storage devices, VMWare vSphere, Microsoft Exchange, Backup Exec, and tools to monitor backups, servers, and Microsoft Exchange. The System Administrator Sr. is required to possess the expertise to apply network health tools, network security, and modeling capabilities for the optimization of software and hardware platforms, required to meet the changing operational requirements of evolving missions and threat conditions to US and NATO forces. 

The System Administrator Sr. is required to have experience in planning, documenting and monitoring the completion and compliance with technical standards and specifications in systems projects.

A minimum of a United States SECRET security clearance is required. 

Education and Experience

-- A bachelor's degree plus 3 years of recent specialized experience, OR;

-- An associate's degree plus 7 years of recent specialized experience, OR;

-- A major certification plus 7 years of recent specialized experience, OR;

-- 11 years of recent specialized experience;

  • Security+
  • VMWare VCP6 or higher
  • MCP/MCSA/MCSE/VMWare CP desired

Desired Experience:

  • Experience with administering Dell-EMC Enterprise storage products, such as Data Domain
  • Experience with administering Dell-EMC backup solutions, such as Avamar
  • Experience managing Tenable Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) suite
  • Experience administering McAfee suite of products to include ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO), Host-Based Security System (HBSS), and Host Intrusion Prevention System (HIPS)
