Our work depends on a Property Specialist joining our team to support our government client’s activities in the Northern Virginia locations. At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Property Specialist supports and

  • manages the responsibilities of the successful completion of all tasks in assigned projects.

  • Develops and implements system improvements, processes, and procedures and training necessary to manage and protect government and corporate property investments; supervises assigned staff.
  • Manages the company's Property Management function, providing supervision to assigned staff.
  • Ensures that a government approved property management system is established and maintained.
  • Verifies the integrity of government and corporate property accountability systems to manage the risk associated with loss, damage, and destruction of property.
  • Ensures property transactions are properly authorized.
  • Provides guidance and training to assigned staff and other corporate personnel on matters relating to property management.
  • Ensures timely receipt, acquisition, identification, documentation, maintenance, inventory, movement, and storage of property.
  • Ensures proper disposition of obsolete and excess assets.
  • Oversees the taking of physical inventories, and provides a quarterly inventory report.
  • Ensures that periodic reviews are completed to verify that appropriate custodial organizations properly maintain and use property, and that records are properly maintained.
  • Completes necessary reporting documents for government property, including property tax submissions, and maintaining an audit trail for all property transactions.
  • Initiates procurement of supplies and custom items through customer procurement mechanisms.
  • Properly handle the receipt of disposal of HAZMAT and hazardous waste according to EPA regulations.
  • Ensures successful passing of government property audits.
  • Ensures that a cost effective system for reutilization of property is in place.
  • Participates in special projects as required.


BA/BS in Business Administration or a related discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training or work experience.


  • 5+ years of related property administration experience, including supervisory experience.
  • At least one year of experience with Total Asset Management (TAM).
  • Experience with customer procurement processes, and creating purchase orders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and adapt quickly to changing requirements.
  • Demonstrated success working individually as well as part of a team including strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • The candidate should have a mechanical / tools background and be familiar with SAE and metric units of measure.
  • Ability to physically lift and move boxes and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
