As a Portal System Administrator (Mid) supporting Enterprise Portal, you will be trusted to maintain the COTS products IBM WebSphere Portal, AWS cloud infrastructure, and Linux servers. This position will ensure the system’s high availability (HA) and maintain program Service Level Agreements (SLA’s). The Portal System Administrator (Mid) will develop and maintain the AWS provisioning scripts and AWS management tool and participate in troubleshooting sessions, analyzing Portal incidents. The Portal System Administrator (Mid) will collaborate closely with developers and other technology personnel to develop, migrate, maintain, manage, and improve the Portal infrastructure in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud environment, distributed / load balanced environments, and in physical data centers. This position may also evaluate new tools and technologies and conduct proof of concept analysis for potential integrations of these new tools and technologies into Portal.

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Support Portal’s 24/7 operations and participate in an on-call rotation as needed
  • Identify potential scaling issues and help define how to monitor and fix them
  • Troubleshoot anomalies as part of Portal system reliability
  • Interact with tools’ professional services contacts to help troubleshoot and resolve product issues
  • Ensure system’s high availability and maintain provided SLA’s
  • Monitor and maintain multiple public-facing websites and applications
  • Deliver continuous improvement of scripts and templates for reproducible deployments
  • Interact regularly with internal and external stakeholders
  • Conduct root cause analysis and identify the source of errors, and provide possible solutions

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with IBM WebSphere Portal 8.x and WebSphere Application Server (WAS) 8.x administration or an equivalent middleware
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience using AWS services (EC2, ECS, API Gateway, Route 53, Load balancers, DynamoDB, S3, IAM, CloudFormation templates, etc.) and supporting AWS infrastructure
  • 3+ years of experience scripting with Python, Perl, or Shell
  • 3+ years of experience with DevOps (CI/CD) pipelines and Agile methodologies
  • 2+ years of experience administering Nginx webservers
  • 2+ years of experience with specifying, designing, and/or implementing system health, performance monitoring tools, and software management tools for 24x7 environments, such as Chartbeat, ExtraHop, NewRelic, and Splunk
  • Candidate must be able to obtain Public Trust clearance and must have lived in the United States at least three (3) out of the last five (5) years

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • US citizen or a Green Card holder
  • 3+ years of experience automating and managing Linux infrastructure, including common Linux distributions (RHEL, CentOS, Debian, etc.), including building Linux/Unix VM’s/AMI’s from scratch
  • 3+ years of experience with common networking equipment, such as F5, Cisco, Juniper, etc.
  • 3 years of hands-on experience integrating with micro services as a SaaS
  • 3+ years of experience in hosting high available/traffic websites infrastructure and fine tuning webservers and web applications
  • 3+ years of experience with high availability technologies, automating patch installs, and security hardening
  • 3+ years of experience supporting a 24x7 Internet-oriented production environment, preferably across multiple data centers, involving at least hundreds of servers
  • 2+ years of experience with Git version management servers and configuration management systems, such as: Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Jenkins, Nexus, et
  • Health Care Industry or Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) experience
  • AWS System Administration certification
  • Okta/Saviynt experience or certification
  • Experience with setting/administration of IBM collaboration tools, such as Connections
  • Experience with AWS EC2/AMI and cloud formation templates
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical topics to management and non-technical audiences
  • Excellent analytical skills, including the ability to integrate information from multiple sources
  • Ability to work independently and interact regularly with government and non-government stakeholders at multiple levels of authority
  • Works well as a team member in a fast-paced and often time-sensitive environment
