U.S. Citizenship and background investigation is required; you must have a current clean financial background.  (Though the position is 8-5 M-F, the role requires flexibility to support issues or planned activities after hours, weekends and holidays as needed.) The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation [FDIC] mission is to preserve and promote public confidence in the U.S. financial systems by insuring deposits in banks and thrift institutions for up to $250,000; by identifying, monitoring, and addressing risks to the deposit insurance funds; and by limiting the effect on the account and the financial system when a bank or thrift institution fails. GDIT provides the day-to-day operational services to FDIC in support of infrastructure, facilities, hardware, software, and systems. GDIT supports operational security, client support/help desk, data center operations, asset management, and systems engineering service areas. The FDIC Engineering team provides support to a plethora of cutting-edge technologies across the IT spectra. It has a state of the art development lab to test new functionality, architectures, and equipment. Engineers are tasked with developing and deploying innovative solutions to meet business requirements - not managing day to day, same technology operations. GDIT seeks a The successful candidate will be supporting the Engineering Support Services (ESS). The Candidate will participate in the development of high-level architectural solutions to meet business and mission requirements for Service Assurance and Service Delivery supporting for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).

Work will be performed with some direction and collaboration from Strategy Architect and senior Engineering Support Services (ESS) leadership. Must be able to develop a “big picture” view driven from technical details, and be able to identify “ripple effects” from organization technical decisions.

Task and responsibilities in this role include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Identify, assess, and present options for meeting the functional and technical requirements, which might include hardware and software updates or upgrades.
  • Conduct research into commercial, off-the-shelf (COTS) products in search of potential solutions and also leverage Forester and Gartner third party services.
  • Ensure these solutions are compatible and in compliance with relevant standards as well as the overarching architectural tenets of the ESS.
  • Produce architectural artifacts to include system design diagrams, recommendation justifications, and technical specifications.
  • Help resolve issues that arise in implementing solutions and systemic incident resolution.
  • Advise management and team members of risks associated with technologies and implementation approaches and identify methods of risk mitigation.
  • Conduct problem analysis and resolution efforts and identify potential process improvements.
  • Develop notional levels of effort (LOEs) to define potential scope of work, and conduct peer and Government reviews to ensure completeness and adequacy of solutions.
  • Participate in a variety of other technical review and communications forums to ensure alignment of solutions with other Divisions plans and needs.
  • Create briefings regarding solutions as required or needed.

To qualify, you must meet these basic qualifications: 

  • Responsible for analyzing and translating business information and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint that outlines solutions to achieve complex business objectives.
  • Serve as an orchestration/automation expert for all hybrid data center capabilities across operational environments and have a keen understanding of application programming interfaces (APIs) and other modern-stack technologies leveraged in the modern hybrid data center.
  • Identify, engage with and manage relationships with key and emerging AIOps tools and technologies
  • Engage with Program teams and advise them on strategies to industry best practices for AIOps and defined steps to mature their environments from legacy to a modern AI driven, automated hybrid data center.
  • Knowledge of software/system development lifecycle methodologies
  • Experience with Solaris, Linux, VMware and Windows platforms
  • Experience with high availability (HA) configurations, database and storage, Identity and Access Management (IDAM)
  • Experience with reporting software, applications requiring graphical user interfaces, applications which require connectivity and /or communications between multiple internal and external systems.
  • Microsoft Azure and /or Amazon Web Services (AWS) Deployment experience supporting the ESS stack
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, time management and problem solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to interact professionally with executives, customers, vendors and department staff
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other scientific or technical discipline directly related to the labor category plus fifteen (15) to seventeen (17) years of working experience desired.

  • Project management experience
  • Defense Oriented Architecture Framework (DODAF)
  • Systems integration and service-oriented architecture (SOA) experience
  • Familiarity with the Enterprise Architecture Framework, i.e. “The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF), Garner EA Framework, Federal Enterprise Architecture Framework (FEAF), and Zachman Framework for Enterprise Architecture (EA)
