Job Description

GDIT is searching for a Chief Technologist that will provide technology vision and leadership in the development and implementation of IT infrastructure services. This capable individual will lead the planning and implementation of enterprise information systems to support both distributed and centralized business operations and achieve more effective and cost-beneficial, enterprise-wide IT operations.

The Chief Technologist will lead the translation and estimation of business system IT needs into support requirements, including impact on current support operations and capabilities, risk analysis of proposed migrations, and supportability of new technologies.  The Chief Technologist must have experience in one of the following disciplines: Information Systems, Information Technology, Management / Business Management, Engineering or Computer Science.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide the vision, strategy, and leadership to drive innovation and new designs into the IT infrastructure that lead to higher efficiency and effectiveness of the services provided
  • Research and understand industry technologies and nontechnology trends that apply to customer environment.
  • Mentor teams and build skills to strengthen technical skills across the environment
  • Determine and help orchestrate the delivery of business outcomes with the implementation of new technology initiatives

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Chief Information Officer (CIO) or Organizational-Wide Enterprise Architect.
  • Experience designing, engineering, implementing, and operating enterprise infrastructures similar to 15,000 users, with a large number of locations (500+ CONUS and OCONUS desired) and thousands of servers.
  • Recent (within the last five years) hands-on experience with facilitating and successfully implementing digital innovational and transformational changes similar to 15,000 users, with a large number of locations (500+ CONUS and OCONUS desired) and thousands of servers
  • 10 years or more years of related technical experience in IT infrastructure
  • Experience in communicating with Government personnel, including agency executives.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Recent experience with leading successful improvement projects in an agile environment for organizations similar to 15,000 users, with a large number of locations (500+ CONUS and OCONUS desired) and thousands of servers.
  • Minimum of three years of experience analyzing customer requirements and providing assistance with requirements development similar to 15,000 users, with a large number of locations (500+ CONUS and OCONUS desired) and thousands of servers.
  • Recent experience delivering emergent technologies to complex business solutions for stakeholders from multiple disciplines.
  • Demonstrated success in major technology innovation engagements for enterprise clients.
  • Five years’ experience as a CTO, CIO or Organizational-Wide Enterprise Architect.
  • Experience translating organizational business and architectural needs into requirements, logical and physical designs, and service deployments.
  • 3 years of experience in a managed services delivery model
  • 3 years of experience in DevSecOps and Agile methodologies
  • Bachelor of Science in Information Systems, Information Technology, Management / Business Management, Engineering or Computer Science (Master’s Degree Preferred)
  • Proven experience developing IT roadmaps
  • Experience in communicating with Government personnel, including agency executives.
